Understanding our own situations and working out how to deal with things could make this coming year more positive and productive. If you’re affected by drugs, alcohol or solvents to any degree we are here to provide a space for you to work out what you would like to happen.

We aim to be friendly, accepting and non-judgemental to anyone that approaches our service. Any referral made is confidential and does not become a part of any medical or employment records.  Counselling is a process of supporting you to find your own solutions to your own problems. Those that have used our service consistently say that this type of support allows them to remain in control while getting the help they need.

Our qualified staff team are skilled in working with children, young people, adults and the family as a whole.

 Role:                
The successful applicant will be responsible for selecting, recruiting, training, supporting, motivating and supervising a rolling cohort of community members to work alongside the counselling staff team to support people affected by their own or another’s drug and/or alcohol use.

 There will be two identified groups within this  project:

 1. Placements (identified through colleges and universities Scotland wide)

 2. Volunteers (recruited from members of the  local communities)

 Applicants should hold a relevant counselling supervision qualification / accreditation with  relevant bodies etc

DAPL is pleased to welcome a new cohort of volunteer placement students who joined the organisation recently. After an induction over two days, the placements began working with us from the beginning of March.
One of our new placements is Tina Johnson from Penicuik who is currently studying for a doctorate in Counselling Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University.
Tina said: ” ‘I am looking forward to working at DAPL and gaining valuable experience for my course”.
